Small-spotted catshark

Posée sur le fond durant la journée, la petite roussette passe souvent inaperçue parmi sable et graviers. À la tombée de la nuit, ce petit requin tacheté quitte son repos pour explorer le fond à la recherche de crustacés, mollusques et petits poissons.

COMMENT EST-ELLE ?

La petite roussette est un petit requin au corps allongé et souple. Sa peau est beige à brun clair, parsemée de nombreuses petites taches sombres bien distinctes. Le ventre est plus clair. Sa tête est arrondie, avec une bouche située en dessous et des narines visibles. Ses yeux possèdent une pupille verticale, typique de nombreuses espèces actives la nuit.

OÙ VIT-ELLE ?

Elle vit sur les fonds meubles comme le sable, la vase ou les graviers, depuis le littoral jusqu’à plusieurs centaines de mètres de profondeur. Le jour, elle reste souvent posée sur le fond, parfois immobile.

QUE MANGE-T-ELLE ?

Principalement active la nuit, elle chasse de petits poissons, des crustacés, des mollusques et des vers qu’elle repère sur le fond grâce à ses sens développés.
