WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This red alga forms small, flexible tufts made of thin, highly branched stems. Its irregular growth gives it a light, delicate appearance, with cylindrical axes dividing into increasingly fine branches. Its colour ranges from pink to purple, sometimes slightly translucent. Its texture is flexible and gelatinous, making it fragile and easily deformed underwater.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
It attaches to hard substrates such as rocks and may sometimes grow on other algae without parasitising them. It occurs in relatively calm marine areas. This species is found in the Mediterranean and grows at different depths in areas where light is present but not too intense.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
Like all algae, it is autotrophic. It produces its organic matter through photosynthesis, using light, carbon dioxide and nutrients dissolved in the water.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
