WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This sponge has a characteristic vase or thick cup shape. Its colour ranges from brown to greenish brown. It has a wide opening at the top, sometimes very large, where water leaves. Its surface is firm and slightly rough. The small water intake pores cannot be seen with the naked eye.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
It mainly lives on hard substrates such as rocks, drop-offs and coralligenous formations. It can also attach in mixed areas containing sediment, but remains associated with solid supports. It is mostly found in dimly lit areas.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
Like all sponges, it feeds by filtering water. Microscopic particles, such as bacteria and organic debris, are captured as water passes through its tissues, and water is then expelled through the main opening. This process contributes to recycling matter in the marine environment.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
