WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This goby has a stocky, relatively elongated body adapted to life on the seabed. Its colouring varies from beige to brown, with darker patterns sometimes forming bands or spots on the flanks. The sensory pores on its head are clearly visible and are a distinctive feature of the species. Its eyes are high on its head, providing a good field of view in its benthic environment.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
It lives on sandy, muddy-sand or detrital seabeds, often near Posidonia seagrass meadows. It is mainly encountered in the Mediterranean, generally at shallow or moderate depths, where it shelters in the substrate or beneath loose objects such as shells.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
Its diet is carnivorous and opportunistic. It mainly eats small invertebrates living in the sediment, such as crustaceans and worms. It catches prey directly on the seabed or by searching the substrate.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
