Underwater, the Crystal jellyfish appears like a glass disc floating in the blue. Its many radiating canals and crown of tentacles create an elegant outline. Often inconspicuous, it drifts with currents while capturing plankton that comes within reach.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This jellyfish is very transparent and delicate. Its bell, almost invisible in the water, contains many clearly visible radial canals running from the centre to the edge. It has many thin tentacles arranged all around it. Its shape may resemble a slightly flattened disc, sometimes with bluish reflections depending on the light.
WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
It lives in open water and forms part of the plankton. It occurs both near the surface and at greater depths, carried by currents. Its presence varies with environmental conditions.
WHAT DOES IT EAT?
It captures small planktonic prey, such as crustaceans or larvae, using its many tentacles bearing stinging cells. These paralyse prey before ingestion.
