WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This butterflyfish has a pale body with dark chevron-shaped lines. An orange-red area covers the rear of the body, and a dark band crosses the eye. The eye mask, chevrons and red area should be considered together to distinguish it from other butterflyfishes.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
This butterflyfish inhabits coral reefs in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Coral-rich areas provide feeding surfaces and refuges within reef structure. Its presence depends on suitable food and shelter; fish communities vary across a reef.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
Its food includes polyps, worms, small crustaceans and algae. Feeding takes place beside reef surfaces; the small mouth reaches small food items. The diet is established from references, not merely from a fish being filmed beside coral.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
