WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
The Marbled electric ray stands out through its thick, almost circular, flexible body. Its skin has irregular brownish marbling that allows it to blend into the seabed. Unlike many other rays, its tail is short and robust, with well-developed fins. On each side of its head are organs capable of producing electricity.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
It lives on sandy or muddy seabeds, often partly concealing itself beneath the sediment. It is also found near seagrass beds, where it finds suitable places to hide and hunt.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
It is a predator that mainly feeds on fish and sometimes crustaceans. It uses its electric discharges to immobilise prey before swallowing it.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
