WHAT DO THEY LOOK LIKE?

Two openings, the siphons, let water enter and leave. A tunic surrounds the body. Some species are solitary; others form colonies of small individuals. Size and colour vary.

WHERE DO THEY LIVE?

They attach to submerged surfaces, including reef relief. The violet forms with yellow siphons and the translucent colony in the film illustrate this diversity.

WHAT DO THEY EAT?

Water passes through a filtering apparatus that traps small food particles. Sea squirts connect the water with attached reef organisms.
