WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?

Three black bands cross a deep white body. The tail stays white or transparent, helping distinguish the close Indian Ocean species. Maximum length is around 8 cm.

WHERE DOES IT LIVE?

Branching coral colonies provide shelter. Fish may move away to feed and return to hide among the branches.

WHAT DOES IT EAT?

It consumes zooplankton and small animal or plant resources. The coral shelter is not therefore treated as prey.
