WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
The elegant unicornfish has a grey body, a yellow throat and orange markings near the tail. It has no horn on its forehead; the orange markings surround small defensive blades. Long filaments may extend from the tails of large males, but their absence does not rule out this species.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
It inhabits Red Sea and Indian Ocean reefs with open routes for swimming. Reef cavities provide refuges; its colour can change while resting. Night footage documents shelter use without necessarily showing its usual daytime activity.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
This unicornfish mainly crops brown algae attached to reef surfaces. Grazing transfers plant material to animals and locally limits algal growth. A resting fish does not demonstrate feeding; the stated diet comes from biological references.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
