WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This butterflyfish has a yellow body that is rounded and flattened from side to side. Fine vertical lines run across its sides, and a grey-blue patch marks its cheek. Its elongated snout ends in a small mouth; the cheek marking and body lines distinguish it better than yellow colour alone.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
This butterflyfish inhabits coral reefs in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Coral-rich areas provide feeding surfaces and refuges within reef structure. Its presence depends on suitable food and shelter; fish communities vary across a reef.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
It takes coral polyps and may also eat small molluscs and crustaceans. Feeding takes place beside reef surfaces; the small mouth reaches small food items. The diet is established from references, not merely from a fish being filmed beside coral.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
