WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
Longfin batfish have a deep, compressed body, silver to grey with dark bands. A black blotch below the pectoral fin, towards the front of the anal fin, helps distinguish them from other batfish. Common size approaches 50 centimetres, with a published maximum of 60 centimetres.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
Found from the Red Sea to the western Pacific, it is documented from the surface to 70 metres. Adults use reefs and wrecks, sometimes in groups. Juveniles beside floating structures occupy a different environment.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
The documented diet combines animal resources, including small invertebrates and zooplankton, with algae. These categories describe varied feeding; they do not justify arbitrary links to specific species in our guides.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
