WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This colonial hydrozoan forms upright feather-shaped structures, with a main axis bearing numerous regular branches. The whole has a fine, finely divided appearance. The colony is generally brownish to yellowish depending on the individual and environmental conditions. Small polyps are arranged along the branches and perform the colony’s vital functions.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
It is encountered attached to hard substrates, often in areas exposed to currents. It can be observed on rocky seabeds or secondary supports near softer areas.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
It feeds by catching particles and plankton carried by the current. The polyps capture food and distribute nutrients throughout the colony.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
