Why this website?
Since we began diving around the Hyères islands, we have noticed several things:
1 - Over the years, the amount of fishing line, nets, floating or submerged waste and plastic has increased. Thrown overboard, an object disappears from view and from people's minds. Despite improvements, the idea of the sea as a dumping ground unfortunately persists.
2 - Despite a clear improvement in water quality, during more than 40 years of diving around the Hyères islands we have observed major changes in the flora and fauna. Some are cyclical; others seem more permanent.
3 - The wider public often knows little about the underwater world, associating it with danger or at least some fear of the unknown. This lack of knowledge also leads people to think that only tropical seas offer colour and abundant life. To many, the shallows along our coasts seem empty and therefore uninteresting.
4 - Many divers cannot identify, or even notice, the common species they encounter during a dive. Others think that marine biology is tedious, incomprehensible and a subject for specialists.
A digital ecosystem for exploring the seabed
In response, dive.explo360.fr, the YouTube channel (over 20,000 subscribers), the LinkedIn account (7,000 followers) and Facebook (over 4,000 followers) work together to share the richness of the underwater world. Social media captures attention and sparks curiosity, while the website provides detailed, interactive knowledge for further discovery and learning.
THE WEBSITE
Dive Explo 360 grew out of a passion for the underwater world and a desire to make it accessible to everyone.
This website was designed to help divers, freedivers and nature lovers identify and understand marine biodiversity.
Through detailed, illustrated profiles, everyone can explore underwater species and habitats, learn to recognise them and help protect them.
More than a guide, Dive Explo 360 is an invitation to observe, share and marvel at the richness of marine life.
THE YOUTUBE CHANNEL
The YouTube channel associated with Dive Explo 360, which had over 21,000 subscribers in early December 2025, was created to reach a wider audience beyond divers alone.
Through immersive educational videos, it attracts nature lovers, people curious about marine life and exploration enthusiasts.
The aim is to spark interest among as many people as possible and direct them to dive.explo360.fr, which offers more detailed and interactive content.
Together, the videos and website turn initial curiosity into learning and awareness of the richness of the underwater world.
THE FACEBOOK ACCOUNT AND PAGE
The Facebook page and the Facebook account of Dive Explo 360, with over 4,600 followers in April 2025, play a key role in sharing the project with a varied audience.
By sharing discoveries, natural history stories and news, they attract nature lovers, spark curiosity and build an engaged community.
The aim is to reach people who may not be divers and encourage them to explore dive.explo360.fr, where detailed profiles, interactive tools and a more immersive experience help them develop their knowledge.
Facebook thus provides a gateway to a richer world, encouraging discovery and discussion of underwater life.
THE LINKEDIN ACCOUNT
With over 7,000 followers and more than 500 professional connections, the Dive Explo 360 LinkedIn account was created to build relationships with professionals in marine science, education, the environment and science communication.
It meets a clear need: to promote rigorous science communication grounded in Mediterranean ecosystems and developed in close collaboration with divers and people working in the field.
LinkedIn offers a look behind the scenes, sharing the tools developed, talks and collaborations, and enabling discussion with professionals committed to understanding and protecting marine life.
It is a space to share innovative teaching approaches, pool resources and encourage cooperation between naturalists, educators, diving clubs, researchers and institutions.
The aim is clear: strengthen the educational and scientific reach of Dive.Explo360 by connecting professionals with the wider public.
SHARING WITH SCHOOLS & ASSOCIATIONS
We are committed to making our content accessible to a wide audience and raising awareness of the richness of underwater life.

This open sharing makes our natural history profiles, videos and educational resources easier to access, providing interactive, immersive learning materials.
Organisations such as Ocean Academy already use this feature to enrich their educational programmes and offer a dynamic approach to marine exploration.
Through this easy-to-use access, we encourage knowledge sharing and awareness of marine ecosystem protection among younger generations and those involved in environmental education.
