WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This sponge forms upright masses made up of cylindrical extensions resembling fingers. Its bright yellow colour is distinctive. Each tip bears a small opening, the osculum, through which water is expelled. The whole may form more or less branched structures. Its texture is flexible and slightly elastic.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
It mainly lives in dimly lit areas, such as caves, overhangs and drop-offs. It is found on rocky substrates, generally from around ten metres deep into deeper areas.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
Like all sponges, it feeds by filtering water. It captures microscopic particles, such as bacteria and organic debris, then expels water through its openings. This process contributes to recycling matter in the marine ecosystem.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
