WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?
This brown alga forms small curled fans, often compared to little cones. Its surface has concentric bands alternating between brown and whitish shades. This pale appearance comes from a limestone deposit on its surface. Several individuals may grow together from a shared base. Fine structures visible close up trace regular lines across the entire surface.WHERE DOES IT LIVE?
It lives in well-lit areas, most often on shallow rocks or hard substrates. It is found in calm to moderately disturbed waters, where light enables photosynthesis.WHAT DOES IT EAT?
Like all algae, it produces its own material using sunlight. It uses water, carbon dioxide and dissolved mineral salts to develop.GO FURTHER WITH AMIGANSEAU
